Hi Barb & TUSKA team!
I have an issue I need your advice on. Most of the TUSKA families as well as the community have avocado fruit trees growing in their small farms. They grow them organically since no chemicals are applied on them. However, they don’t have a market and when there are no middlemen exploiting them through very low prices, the fruits go to waste. I have been wondering if it’s possible with the combined influence of the TUSKA team and the Archbishop, an export market can be found. This would change the fortune of an entire community for they really are hardworking only that the opportunities open to them are limited. Please let me know your thoughts.
I forwarded this Ven. John Eversley because I know nothing about avocados other than you can buy them at the grocery store BUT John is a wealth of knowledge and I felt if anyone could be of assistance in this effort it was him. Since then John has given Peter much information on what is needed to be done and Peter has been busy checking up at the various government departments in Kenya since then. He is very hopeful they may be able to do something to get this project moving. Thank you John!!
Asante sana,
Peter Thairu
